Few days back, dare devil robbers attacked some commercial banks in Otukpo, Benue State.
Sequel to the invasion of the banks and as a precautionary measure against further attacks, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed all money deposit banks in Benue State to operate between 8 am and 2 pm daily.
It would be recalled that armed robbers attacked some banks in Otukpo town in Benue State, killing some people including security agents and carting away millions of naira last Friday.
CBN’s new operational directives followed an emergency meeting of representatives of the apex bank and the management of the affected banks in Makurdi, Benue State.
“All banks across the state with immediate effect should commence business operations from 8 am-2 pm, Monday to Friday till January 30, 2024, when a review of the security situation will be carried out at the Bankers Committee for amendment accordingly,” a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, reads.
