Abuja Agog As Tinubu Is Sworn In As Nigeria’s 16th President

Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory is currently in a frenzy as the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will today, take the oath of office as Nigeria’s 16th President.

African leaders, powerful delegations from the United States of America (USA) and Canada, representatives of other foreign governments, diplomats and heads of international organisations arrived Abuja, on Sunday for the inauguration.

Tinubu, who was declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election, will be sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Asiwaju Tinubu will take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in a glamorous ceremony which would be witnessed by over 300 guests.

The ceremony will also be broadcast live to millions of Nigerians at home and abroad.

Preparations are in top gear for the inauguration as the authorities have tightened security in the city, with the deployments of soldiers, policemen, undercover operatives and counter-terrorism units at strategic locations and public facilities, including hotels where invited guests were accommodated.

Throughout the weekend,, the military and the police conducted aerial surveillance of the capital city with helicopters flying overhead.
