The abducted Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Dr Tony Aziegbemi, has regained his freedom from kidnappers.
Recall that Aziegbemi was kidnapped on March 15th in Benin, the state capital.
He was ambushed at the Bishop Edokpolor Boulevard Junction, off Country Home, GRA Benin City, while returning from the Government House where he held a meeting with Governor Godwin Obaseki.
However, Aziegbemi was released at the early hours of Tuesday morning, 10 days after his abduction.
Aziegbemi has since reunited with his family.
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed his release.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed his release, however, noted that the command would release official statement soon.
Also confirming the release, Clem Aziegbemi, who spoke on behalf of the family said the PDP leader was released unhurt.
“As a member of the Aziegbemi family, we say thank you all for your great show of love and solidarity with us all through the period of the adoption of our beloved son, brother, cousin, and leader, Dr Tony Aziegbemi. Thank you, all. We are most grateful for all your valuable contributions through prayers and steadfastness. God bless,” he said.
