Itam said that following the recovery of Azuka’s corpse, the joint security operatives acting on intelligent-led information arrested nine suspects actively involved in the unfortunate incident and recovered two pump action guns.

“One of the suspects sustained a gunshot injury in his leg during a gun duel with the Police operatives,” the CP said.

It would be recalled that Chude Nnamdi, a human rights activist and social media influencer, had stated that
abductors of slain lawmaker withdrew N100 million from his account before killing him yhis much was revealed by Chude Nnamdi.

Nnamdi revealed this in a post on his verified social media page on Friday, he said the kidnappers, numbering six, withdrew the lawmaker’s money from his bank account with the help of a nurse based in Asaba, Delta State capital.

The activist asserted that the six kidnappers, along with their native doctor who creates charms for them, and the nurse, have all been arrested.

He said the leader of the kidnappers, whose identity he did not disclose, resides with the native doctor within his shrine in Asaba.

According to him, the kidnappers confessed that their modus operandi is killing their victims after collecting money from them, adding that no fewer than three other dead bodies were also found at the 2nd Niger Bridge where the decomposing body of the lawmaker was found.

Nnamdi wrote, “The kidnappers that killed Hon. Justice Azuka collected N100 million from his account before killing him on 26th December, 2024.

“They shot him twice in the head on 26th December, 2024. A nurse that lives in Asaba helped them to withdraw the N100 million.

“A native doctor living in Asaba do prepare charms for them. Their leader (kingpin) is living with the native doctor inside his shrine in Asaba.

“All those boys are living in Asaba except one who lives in Oba. There are over 3 dead bodies found alongside Hon. Justice Azuka’s body.

“Those boys said they normally kill all their victims. Once they collect money from you, they will kill you.”

However, attempts to verify Nnamdi’s claims with the police were unsuccessful, as Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, neither answered calls nor responded to messages at the time of filing this report.
