Ex-House of Reps Member, Cairo Ojougboh, Slumps, Dies After VAR Awarded Penalty To South Africa

News emanating from the household of former legislator, Cairo Ojougboh indicate that he slumped and died shortly after the video assistant referee (VAR) cancelled Victor Osimhen’s goal and awarded a penalty to South Africa.

The All Progressives Congress chieftain who represented Ika federal constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives died on Wednesday night while watching the AFCON 2023 semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.

He was resuscitated but died in the process.

A source who was with the lawmaker at the time the ugly incident reared its head squealed “As soon as a penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria during the AFCON match with South Africa on Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory Coast, he slumped,”
