How Popular Blogger, Adenike, Died of Complications From First Pregnancy At 50, NUJ Chair, Others Mourn

The social media space was thrown into mourning over the death of Adenike Adewusi Adewunmi, a blogger and the founder of nikkiworld blog who died as a result of complications arising from her first pregnancy at 50.

NATIONAL WAVES gathered that before her untimely death, she had made her pregnancy which she had patiently waited for over two decades public.

Recently, she posted a video, where she wore a gown, with her protruding tummy, singing praises to God.

She died after complaining of shortness of breath.

NATIONAL WAVES learnt that she was rushed to the hospital but gave up the ghost before she arrived the hospital for medical attention.

Many people, including the chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Abuja Chapel, Emmanuel Ogbeche, have paid tributes to Adenike via Facebook.

Ogbeche wrote “When a truly good person passes on, you know from the oration of those who didn’t even get to meet such an individual”

“I have seen several teary posts about the late Adenike Adewunmi-Adebisi from some of my friends here. I had never chanced on her presence here, but reading what her friends have written of her, she was deliberate, generous of spirit and feared God”

“Madam, may you find peace and those you have left behind find consolation in the gift you were”

Rita Egwu, a friend of the deceased revealed how she died..

She wrote, “All Adenike Adewunmi Adewusi, owner of nikkiworld blog wanted was a child of her own.

“For 20 years, she waited.She finally got pregnant.This morning, she complained of shortness of breath and died before she could get to the hospital”

“Her plan was to celebrate the birth of the baby with her 50th birthday later this year.

“May her very gentle soul rest in peace.

“Survived by sister, Adejoke, and Toba.”

Balogun Olamilekan, a digital creator and CEO of Crownlex Afrix paid tribute to Adenike thus “Her last post in every and exact sense was less than 24-hours.
She was consistent with celebrating people on this platform; a very calm, cultured and respectful individual inside and out.
She never had any dull moment on her wall.
My daughter liked her and still likes her because they bear the same names, Adewunmi and Adenike.
Rest in Peace Adewunmi-Adebisi Adenike
This is the time for all of us to reflect about this life.
May God Almighty Preserve us all.

“May God Comfort her family, friends, associates and well-wishers; may He give us all the fortitude to bear the loss, and may sudden and unwarranted death not be our portion now.

Joel Nwokeoma also paid tribute to Adenike on Facebook. He wrote “Adenike, the news filtering on this platform announcing your passage today is not only rude but also shocking.

“More than two decades ago, we lived and worshipped in the same neighborhood in the Mafoluku area of Lagos.

“We only reconnected on this app some years back but intermittently shared memories of those uncertain years of growth and dreaming.

“Indeed, yours is a death that diminished humanity.
And hurts badly”

“May your soul find rest in the Lord, Sister Nike.”

Remi Adelowo, a Journalist, Communications and documentary specialist paid tribute to the late blogger. He wrote “Is it her funny dance steps? Or her endless cruise? Like she’s got no problem in this world. She is, arguably, the only one I know that would send emissaries to someone who had blocked her to unblock her. She never harboured grudges. What a lovely soul! Life is a mystery”

Onweugbuzie Ambrose simply paid condolence to Adenike with these apt words “May the lord rest her soul”
