The federal government in a motion filed by Barrister Festus Keyamo (SAN) has asked the federal high court, Abuja to order the temporary forfeiture of properties allegedly belonging to the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. The said properties were being investigated by the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property
Keyamo wants Ekweremadu to temporarily forfeit the properties pending the conclusion of further inquiry/investigation by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property and/or possible arraignment of Ekweremadu.
Grounds upon which Keyamo made the application are as follow;
‘’That the properties listed in Schedule A hereunder were the properties declared by the Respondent in his Assets Declaration Form at the Code of Conduct Bureau, That on-going investigation/inquiries have revealed that the Properties listed in Schedule B also belong to Ekweremadu and so belonged to him when he declared his assets in Schedule A, That the properties listed in Schedule B were not declared in the Assets Declaration Form of Ekweremadu, That preliminary investigation by the Federal Government reveals that a prima facie case of a breach of Code of Conduct for Public Officers has been made out against Ekweremadu’’
According to Barrister Festus Keyamo, (SAN) these are the property declared and undeclared by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
