This title I suggest could have been the theme of Sermon by Pastor Taribo West in the residents of their host before his intercessory prayers.
Also, if the late Majek Fashek were to be alive; he would have been invited to display his artistic performance and released his popular lyrics ” Whatever yea Sow, Yea shall reap, you can never sow cassava and reap Cocoyam” to grace the historic occasion.
In commemoration of his 70th birthday, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential aspirant of the APC invited erswhile soccer legends that have made the nation proud to his mansion to honour him with a Novelty football match.
The fun-filled gathering of the past heroes had been tagged “a campaign rally for the host by the social media fans.
Also, the “who is who” in the round leather game could not hid their feelings towards the magnanimity of their host, hence, strongly back his presidential ambition with prayers, words of encouragement and goodwill comments.
Truly, the visit has continue to generate controversies among Nigerians who felt the invitation should have been turned down by the soccer legends.
By and large,as a Nigerian, the constitution gives everyone right of association and liberty to a choice of candidates and party.
Apart from personal comments from Austin Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo for their reasons for such endorsement, there could be other players whom the celebrant must have touched their lives one way or the other but decided to keep mute.
Remember what happened to Dosu Joseph after the Atlanta 96, Olympics. He had a fatal accident that led to spinal cord Injury. Dosu Joseph- was in attendance with his clutches, either to wish Tinubu well, appreciate his kind gesture but not including coming to be part of the Novelty match due to his condition.
Moreover, we should not forget the fact that this administration under the watch of Babatunde Raji Fasola, decided to fulfill the promise made by the past Administration for the “USA 94” Super Eagles Squad. As the Minister of works and housing; the ministry has recently allocated the properties promised to them.
Recently, Mr Reno Omokiri, reiterated the fact that Tinubu’s parent were not wealthy before coming to governance and wondered how he was able to amassed such wealth for himself. He made a comparison with Saraki whose father was wealthy and must have inherited his business empire…..including the moribund Societe General Bank.
Come to think of it…….If Bukola Saraki had invited Okocha and his mates to grace a likely occasion, would Okocha not have mentioned how his life savings and earned wealth starched in distressed bank Saraki allegedly syphoned depositors funds and liquidated?
Austin Okocha commended Tinubu as the reason why he sees Lagos as home.
Surely, he would have mentioned how he regretted banking with Societe General Bank- under Bukola Saraki’s watch, where he lost a collosal sum of N120million.
Our own Papilo- Kanu Nwankwo, also mentioned how Asiwaju donated to his Heart foundation.
“Whatever you sow, you shall reap”
There is no gainsaying that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu must have reaped what he sown. A popular songs lyrics says ” you can’t sow cassava and reaped cocoyam, whatever you sow, you shall reap.
Trust Nigerians, we are very good at displaying our intelligent quotient at every fora given opportunity. Austin Okocha in his speech prayed for his host and wondered what he needed that God has not given him. That depends on you own interpretation and perspective.
For me, the soccer legends have taken the right steps in the right direction.
Whatever you sow, you Shall reap. Atiku or Dele Momodu is equally free to throw invitation to the soccer legends anytime, if it worth- there-while, they will attend the occasion.
As a matter of fact, we should stop campaign of calumny that could belittle the personalities and goodwill of these great heroes.
A popular online media and it’s brainchild had the history of feeding from the pockets of politicians when the going was good. He affiliated himself with the rulling class only to discover he was chasing Shadow……..he became their enemy afterwards.He also initiate undue hatred with people that go near his enemies.
Nevertheless, we can’t eat our cake and have it. History will forever judge everyone.
