Ronke Sokefun’s M.R.S. Foundation Commissions Pediatric Unit In Aiyetoro, Ogun State

Indigenes of Ayetoro, in Yewa North Local Government, Ogun State, were filled with euphoria when the founder M.R.S. FOUNDATION (a non-Governmental Organisation) Mrs. Ronke Sokefun, FIoD commissioned the paedriatic unit of the General hospital, Ayetoro on Friday ,February 11,2022.

The project was conceptualised further to the vision of the M.R.S. FOUNDATION (a non-Governmental Organisation) that no community, regardless of how remotely located, should lack the requisite basic social amenities. The NGO was established in 2020 by Mrs. Ronke Sokefun (who is also the chairman, Board of Directors, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC)  to vigorously pursue the fulfillment of this vision.

The Foundation’s key focus is to act as an interventionist by augmenting Government’s efforts in the provision of basic social amenities, specifically in the Education and Health sectors.

In 2020, when the Foundation was set up, with the financial support of NDIC, it delivered on its 1st major project – a 200-seater ICT Centre sited in the premises of Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government, Ogun State. The Centre has since been accredited by JAMB and played host to 800 students in April 2021 for the JAMB/UTME examinations.

The Foundation has also intervened severally in other

areas, specifically in the education sector.

In conjunction with NDIC,the foundation with a great sense of fulfillment, commissioned its newest project, a Paediatric Unit at the General Hospital, Saala, Ayetoro, Ogun State.

The Unit is a standalone within the premises of the General Hospital and possesses well-equipped facilities outlined below:

– a 10-bed ward for patients on admission,

– an 8-bed baby ward for babies and children up to 2 years;

– a dedicated special baby treatment room for new borns and babies up to 2 years;

– a 2-bed isolation ward for those with communicable & infectious diseases,

– a laboratory with modern equipment; and

– a pharmacy.

The facility also consists of:

– an emergency treatment room,

– a waiting room for outpatients,

– a doctor’s private consulting room,

– a Chief Matron’s office,

– a nurses’ station, and

– an adjoining furnished 2-room accommodation for

parents and guardians who wish to sleep over in the event that their children or wards are on admission.

Some of the equipment in place include:

2 baby incubators,

2 infant phototherapy machines,

2 oxygen concentrators and

2 suction machines amongst others.

The facility also has a back up solar inverter for alternative power supply.

According to Mrs Sokefun,”the M.R.S. FOUNDATION is grateful to NDIC for its financial support, and its own Board of Trustees for their untiring efforts to fulfill the Foundation’s vision.”

Present at the occasion was a member of the board of Trustees of M.R.S. Foundation, Mr. Bankole Animashaun, representative of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, the Onijale of Ijale Papa, Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor, Alh. Shuaibu Salisu, CMD, General Hospital, Saala, Ayetoro,Dr. O.I. Maku, representative of the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wellington Ogunsanya,  former Senator representing Ogun West, Senator Felix Kola Bajomo.The State Controller, Federal Ministry of Works representing the Honourable Minister for Works & Housing Engr. Bakare was in attendance,as well as some nursing staff of the General Hospital, Saala Ayetoro and several friends of Mrs Sokefun who came to witness the commissioning.

They honoured Mrs Sokefun as she commissioned the newly equipped Paedriatic Unit of the General Hospital, Salaa, Ayetoro Ogun State,a project facilitated by NDIC in conjunction with the M.R.S. Foundation.
