The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Friday gave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) the judicial clearance to hold its national convention.
This followed the court’s dismissal of an appeal lodged with it by the suspended National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.
The convention is scheduled for Abuja this weekend. With this ruling, the coast is now clear for the convention where a successor will be elected to replace Secondus.
In it’s ruling, the panel of three judges led by Justice Haruna Tsammani found no merit in Mr Secondus’ appeal saying he voluntarily relinquished his office since he did not challenge his removal at ward and local government levels.
Secondus had filed the suit marked: CA/PH/339/2021 seeking, among others, to restrain the PDP from conducting its national convention which is scheduled to hold in Abuja on Oct. 30th and 31st.
