What many have described as a taboo, an act of geonocide and an unpardonable offence reared its head when a 70-year-old man, Alhaji Umaru Daura, allegedly defiled his neighbour’s seven-year-old daughter.
The victim’s father, Alhaji Habu reported the matter to the police and the police arrested the suspect, a resident of Kawo Rauta village in the Toro Local Government Area of the state, was arrested by policemen attached to the Zone 12 Police Command.
The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Thomas Goni, disclosed this on Tuesday.
Goni, a Superintendent of Police, in a terse statement said, “A 70-year-old man, Alhaji Umaru Daura, has been arrested by detectives attached to the Zone 12 police headquarters in Bauchi for defiling a neighbour’s daughter aged seven.
“The victim’s father, Alhaji Habu said the suspect was caught red-handed.”
The police spokesman said the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 12, Bauchi, Audu Madaki, had directed that the suspect be charged to court at the end of police investigation
