13 years after the demise of Nigerian popular fuji musician,
Sikiru Ololade Ayinde Balogun, better known by his stage name Ayinde Barrister, his son, Ola, said he was poisoned by his close friend.
The late Ayinde Barrister was regarded as the pioneer of Fuji and Wéré music. He died on December 10, 2010.
Ola revealed this much in a video seen by NATIONAL WAVES.
He said those who killed his father knew that he doesn’t celebrate naming ceremonies and birthdays but organised a birthday shindig for him which he said culminated in his death.
He said ” Those who killed my father knows that its a taboo for him to celebrate birthdays and naming ceremonies but they convinced him and organised a birthday party for him on the occasion of his birthday”
He added that his father was hosted for a week in the residence of the person who organised the party and in the process introduced to different women who may have poisoned him.
“Yes he may have been poisoned. I said this because the sickness started shortly after he returned home after spending a week in the residence of the person who organised the birthday party for him. He could not eat and could not pass out faeces.
“Fortunately his brother, Alhaji Buari Oloto, came around and took him to his hospital in Surulere, where his stomach was flushed. The doctor later advised that he would undergo a surgery in Indian.
“He travelled to India accompanied by his doctors and Alhaji Buari Oloto.
The surgery was successful and he returned to Nigeria. Two days later, the ailment relapsed.
He was flown to Germany where doctors examined him and declared that he was medically fit yet he could not eat.
“He told me he was in a trance and saw that he died and guests were organising his burial ceremony but I told him it was mere dream and nothing would happen to him.
“He had wanted to travel to the US but doctors adviced him not to embark on a long journey. He was later discharged and he went to his wife’s house in London. Until he died he could not eat” said Ola.
